Day 6 of our trip on Holland America to Alaska
On Day 6, we went to Ketchikan, Alaska. The ship docked around 7 am so we hurried off the ship and went to the lumberjack show. It’s an outdoor show filled with laughter and competition.
After the show, the bus took us to a native land owned by a group of Pacific Alaskan people. We learned about their totem poles, dances, culture, and history. Since the tour was almost four hours, we didn’t get a chance to explore the shops of Ketchikan or try their famous salmon.
Once back on the ship, we had lunch in the dining room and relaxed for the afternoon. The husband stopped by the pool and got a portobello burger, fries, and tacos from their Dive-in restaurant and pool side buffet. Holland America did a great job of offering people “poolside food” the entire time that the pool is open. The kids love it. They swim around, grab a burger, and swim some more.
You’re not going to believe this, but we watched one of the many movies on the Holland America movie selections on our television and fell asleep. We slept through the second gala night for the week! At this point, it seems intentional but trust me... it wasn’t. We were so tired that we woke up around 8 pm and went right back to bed. 😴😴😴
The ship only stays in Ketchikan for 5 hours so plan your time wisely.
