Tanzy: The Fun and Playful Side of Italian Food


Tanzy is a fun and playful way to enjoy Italian food. It's a modern Italian restaurant in Boca Raton's Mizner Park. The restaurant is a cool and popular spot with dim lights, hanging mock trees, and great service. It resembles a modern day tree house for adults looking for great food and craft cocktails. The chefs are culinary scientists pairing foods together to create innovative and unique tastes. Every detail is thoroughly planned, delivered, and executed as a work of art on your plate.

Tanzy has a culinary team behind the scenes creating a a detailed menu to please the palates of their guests. Tanzy's beverages are designed by their Master bartender, Adam Seger. He specializes in craft cocktails and wines. Sherry Yard is the Chief Operating Officer and the big decision maker behind the culinary masterpieces on Tanzy's menu. Yard has received culinary notoriety from her peers and guests. She has won the James Beard Award and she continues to set her mark in the culinary world.

My husband and I stopped by Tanzy on a Friday evening. There was a buzz in the air. There were some people dining in before going to the iPic (the movie theater attached to the restaurant), groups of people celebrating special occasions in the private party areas, and others just relaxing by themselves or with a small group.


For our starters, we ordered the "Lobster Macaroni and Cheese" (picture to the left) and the "Brussels Sprouts." The "Lobster Macaroni and Cheese" is not on the menu, but I'm praying that it becomes a permanent fixture at Tanzy. It is made with four different cheeses! It is so rich and savory that it is a dish that you'll be talking about for days. It was definitely one of the best "Lobster Macaroni and Cheese" entrees that I have ever had. The brussel sprouts are really tasty! They're not the brussel sprouts that your mother used to make you eat as a child. These brussel sprouts have garlic-tahini dressing, calabrian chile, spiced pears, pecorino, and toasted cashews. It is absolutely delicious!


For our entrees, I ordered the "Pan Seared Scallops" and my husband ordered the "Branzino." The "Pan Seared Scallops" are served with roasted brussel sprouts, pancetta, thyme-veal jus, and braised cipollini onions. The branzino (picture to the left) is served with sauteed brocollini, golden raisin agro-dolce, celery-fennel puree and a herb salad. The crisp crunch of the fish, soft flakiness within, and the juiciness of the raisins created a beautiful dish.


For our desserts, we ordered the "Warm Olive Oil Cake" and the "Tiramisu." The "Warm Olive Cake" (picture to the left) is the most unique dessert that I have had in a long time. It is prepared with an apricot glaze, blood orange cream, vanilla scented citrus segments, and honeycomb. It was truly an explosion of flavor in my mouth....sweet, crunchy, and tart all at the same time! It is such a creative dish. The tiramisu (picture below) is a nice rendition of an Italian classic. It's rich and moist, and makes for a perfect ending to any dinner.


Extra information: It's a great location to have a private party. They have a wood haven area that has been artistically designed to make your private parties memorable.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 3 pm.

Since the iPic movie theater is connected to Tanzy, guests can coordinate their dinner and movie together. Then, they can take the escalator upstairs to the movie of their choice.

Would I recommend it: Absolutely! I was really impressed by my visit. I have even recommended it to a few people for group parties and private dinners. It's a great option for a night out in Boca Raton, Florida.
