SOLE On The Ocean: Fresh American Bistro

Fresh American Bistro has one of the best views in Sunny Isles, Florida. When you walk into the restaurant, its elevated level only allows you to see miles of turquoise blue waters often only seen on a tropical Caribbean island. Every time I go to Fresh American Bistro, I have to stop, take a deep breath, and just stare at the water. The restaurant is located inside Solé On The Ocean hotel in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach. It features an American cuisine for lunch and dinner.

Even though the Fresh American Bistro is open all day, I have only dined there for lunch. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the Florida sunshine and breathtaking beach views. The first time my husband and I found this restaurant was by chance. We were driving around Sunny Isles with no clue of where to stop for lunch. We checked out the restaurants nearby on Trip Advisor and happened to see the French American Bistro on the list. We were shocked to find a restaurant, hidden in a Sunny Isles hotel, that offered reasonable prices. It really was unheard of! Some Miami restaurants tend to add an upcharge to the food just because of the coveted Dade location. However, French American Bistro is realistic enough to know that people don't want to spend an arm and a leg when they come down from their hotel room, come inside from the beach, or pass by in their cars.

The décor inside the French American Bistro is almost as welcoming as the blue seas outdoors. They have an American, open and airy nautical theme. We opted for a table outside, overlooking the beach and the pool. I ordered a salad and a glass of water. My husband had a wrap with French fries. Both entrees were light and tasty, and a perfect waterside lunch. Our server, Jaime, made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. He treated us like family and provided the greatest recommendations. I was really impressed by his attention to detail.

The next time that my husband and I ended up in Sunny Isles (7 months later), we made sure to stop by the French American Bistro again. As soon as we walked in, Jaime recognized us. Not only did he remember our faces, he could recall what we ordered seven months prior. It was incredible! I can't even remember my neighbor's name and she has told me several times, and my husband has even tried to create name tricks to help me remember. So, I didn't know how he remembered so much about our initial visit. His customer service wasn't just polite, it was truly genuine. The management team is just as welcoming. They walk from table to table to make sure that everyone is enjoying their Fresh American Bistro experience.

On our second visit, it was a rare cold and windy day in South Florida. So, we decided to sit inside. My husband ordered the calamari for his appetizer. The calamari was a great choice. It was crispy on the outside and nice and tender within. The cocktail sauce is incredible, making the calamari irresistible. For his main entrée, my husband had the Freash American Bistro (FAB) Mahi Mahi soft taco. The tacos were tasty, but they put a little too much sauce for my liking. I suggest that you get the sauce on the side. I had the SOLE Shrimp Cocktail. Don't be deceived by the picture, it is a satisfying portion, especially after eating half the plate of calamari.

Overall, French American Bistro is a nice beach side restaurant to get a good lunch. I'm looking forward to seeing their breakfast and dinner menu and trying more selections on the menu.
