BLT Prime: Doral's Hidden Gem

BLT Prime is located in the the heart of Doral, on the Trump National Doral Miami property. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating with breathtaking views of the Blue Monster course. The contemporary American steakhouse serves the finest cuts of beef from a local farm in Lakeland. They are also known for their fresh seafood, innovative drinks, and memorable desserts. Chef Dustin Ward is the culinary genius behind the entrees on the menu, and he is personally involved with every component of the meal.

When my husband and I arrived at the Trump National Doral Property, I was very impressed by the estate that laid before me. Once I passed the gates, I was surrounded by beautiful palm trees, freshly manicured lawns, and several buildings strategically placed to host guests and point us to the direction of the entrance of the lobby. We drove to the entrance and we were greeted by a very friendly staff. They valet crew were efficient and extremely professional.

When I walked into the building I noticed that the glamour of the exterior portion of the grounds only intensified within the building. The lobby was sophisticated and modern, with a hint of old world tradition. We continued to walk to the right and immediately saw BLT Prime. The restaurant was completely open with no doors or barriers. Our hostess brought us to our seat indoors, overlooking the landscape. The greenery was so lush and full, it reminded me of a view of the ocean. As my eyes glanced around the green sea of grass, I couldn't help but to notice the fountains, clocks, and lawn ornaments placed outside.

My husband and I managed to take our eyes off the view, and we were ready to start our lunch. Anya, our server, was extremely friendly and personable. We started off with drinks. I had the "Under Par." This drink is made from Grey Goose Vodka, juiced cucumber, lemon juice, and agave. My husband ordered a California red wine. My drink was so refreshing! It tasted like I should of had on a white spa robe and my feet up. The "Under Par" really helped me to unwind and escape. My husband really enjoyed his red wine. As most of you know, I'm more of a cocktail type of lady.

For our appetizers, we had the crab cake and the beet salad. The crab cake is light and seasoned well. It is pan seared jumbo lump crab cakes, lemon mayonnaise, and radish salad. It literally melts in your mouth! The beet salad has marinated roasted beets, haricot verts, belgium endive, gorgonzola cheese, mache, and candied walnuts. Each ingredient stands alone with a distinct flavor, yet blends harmoniously for an explosion of textures and flavors in your mouth. Since I love gorgonzola cheese and candied walnuts, I had a feeling that I would fall for this appetizer.

For our main course, I ordered the "Jumbo Shrimp" and my husband ordered the 16 oz New York Strip. For our side orders, we had the brussel sprouts. The jumbo shrimp were huge, and I loved it! It was simply grilled with basil oil, and in this case less was more. My shrimp was perfect! My husband and I are huge rib-eye steak fans, so he was reluctant to try the New York Strip. However, Chef Dustin Ward reassured him that even though all of the steaks are phenomenal at BLT Prime, he recommended the New York Strip for my husband because it was picked locally, endured an aging and seasoning process to provoke even more juiciness, and cooked to perfection. All of my followers know that I am always honest about the restaurants and hotels that I review because I want everyone to have an memorable experience. I can honestly say that Chef Dustin Ward's New York Strip is one of the best New York Strip steaks that I have ever had! I have to menion our side order. The brussel sprouts were so good that they can be a meal on their own. The crunch of the brussel sprouts and bacon are phenomenal!

For dessert, we ordered the carrot cake and the "Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse." The carrot cake is very tasty. There is a scoop of ice cream on top with an edible boy. I also enjoyed the "Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse," but I definitely preferred the carrot cake. I think, if you are a peanut butter enthusiast, the peanut butter mousse may be your first choice.

Chef Dustin Ward is worth the trip!I will definitely be exploring the Doral area more for you to make sure that we uncover all of the hidden gems.
