Wings n' Things: Winner of the People's Choice Award for the Best Wings in Florida
We would like to congratulate "Wings n' Things" for winning the "People's Choice" award for the best wings in Florida! Their loyal customers made sure their voices were heard by allowing their favorite restaurant to win by a landslide. If you haven't stopped by "Wings n' Things" in Cooper City, Florida, you should definitely pay them a visit to see where all these votes came from. It is a family-owned restaurant that makes incredible wings and they have a lengthy list of items on their menu that are made on the premises.
"Wings n' Things" has been in the same location since 1989. It has become a staple for the Cooper City community. It is the kind of establishment where the customers become family. Most of the customers have come to the restaurant for years and the staff have grown up with the customers and their children. Initially, "Wings n' Things" was a part of a franchise. However, in 1992, Hurricane Andrew dissolved the franchise due to the hardship that it brought South Florida. The owner of the Cooper City location, Al Gallagher, separated from the franchise and this location became "Gallagher's Wings n' Things" in 1996. However, it is still commonly called "Wings n' Things."
Before Gallagher bought the restaurant, the menu was very small and specific. Gallagher lengthened the menu and continued to hold on to the original roots of the company. He saw many sports bars in the area, but he wanted to continue to be a family restaurant; somewhere where a family could dine comfortably. "Wings n' Things" is a place where you can take your buddies, your wife, or your kids to have a good time while eating your favorite wings.
Laura, the general manager, has become a familiar face at "Wings n' Things." She has been at the restaurant for years and her face is seen as much as the owner because she is truly invested in the company. I had the opportunity to speak to Laura when I went in to try my wings, and you could see the pride that beamed in her eyes when she spoke about the history of the restaurant and the Cooper City community.
So, what makes the wings at "Wings n'Things" so different? Well, their whole wing process allows their wings to stand in their own lane. Their wings go through three stages before they reach your plate. They are cooked at a lower temperature [325 degrees], then cooked in a separate fryer, and finally put in the crisper to allow them to have their great crispy taste. All of the wings are cooked to order. So, you don't have to worry about them ever serving you wings that have been precooked and kept under a warmer. The most popular wings at "Wings n' Things" are the Gallagher wings and the lemon pepper wings.
Over the next five years, "Wings n'Things" plans to update the technology of the restaurant. Currently, the restaurant has wi-fi access and are starting to convert other areas of the restaurant towards the wave of technology without letting the restaurant lose its original Cooper City roots.
If you're in the Cooper City area or if you just desire some great wings, make sure to stop by "Gallagher's Wings n' Things." You'll get southern hospitality in a quaint restaurant that has decades of Florida memories.
