Lori J. Durante is The Woman Behind the "Taste History Culinary Tours"
Lori J. Durante may be the hardest working woman in Broward and Palm Beach County. I was able to spend the day with her on one of the Taste History Culinary Tours. As the executive tour directer, Lori J. Durante manages to run one of the best culinary tours that I have ever been on, continues to pour her love and wisdom into South Florida, and she promotes education through her Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History. She is a woman of many hats, a woman of style and grace, and a woman that continues to impress me.
The non-profit Taste History Culinary Tour was established in 2011 and is the first culinary tour in Palm Beach County. It has tours in West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Lantana, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach. The Taste History Culinary Tour is not your ordinary food tour. Of course, you get your fair share of delectable dishes from local restaurants throughout the day. Yet, surprisingly, you get an interesting history tour of the city between restaurants, meet and support local restaurant owners, and see beautiful art from local artist in the Broward/Palm Beach area. The tour offers a fun day of learning, tasting, and appreciation for the arts. It can be enjoyed with friends, family, or even as a date. The tour is a bus ride that includes some light walking. The tour starts at 11 am and normally last 4-6 hours. The fee is $45 - $60 per adult and free for children under the age of 14. Private tours can be arranged and advanced reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased at tastehistoryculinarytours.org
Lori J. Durante is a native of Delray Beach and has a passion for the pride and history in the roots of Broward and West Palm Beach County. Her efforts to continue to grow the culinary tour has done more for the community than entice the palates of foodies. It has increased business for family owned restaurants, helped in the revitalization of many of the regions in Broward and West Palm Beach County, and assisted in the growing knowledge of the culture and arts in our community.
