La Luce: Am I missing something?

La Luce is an Italian restaurant rated on the top ten list on Trip Advisor and located in one of my favorite hotels in Orlando, Hilton Bonnet Creek. Therefore, my husband and I jumped at the opportunity to dine at this restaurant. It seemed like a win-win opportunity.

Quality: The restaurant had a nice layout. We walked straight through the restaurant and opted to sit outside, overlooking the pool and hotel grounds. The outside portion is meshed in so you don’t have to worry about mosquitoes. Also, we went right after sunset, so it wasn’t too hot. I ordered the salmon and spinach and my husband ordered the ribeye. My salmon was undercooked but my spinach was good. My husband’s meal was also undercooked and took a long time to be corrected. Honestly speaking, the meal tasted similar to any common Italian food chain. It wasn’t as bad as Olive Garden, but it definitely wasn’t worth the hassle of driving 30-40 minutes to dine at this location.

Service: The service from the managers at this hotel was absolutely amazing. They walk around and get to know all of the customers. I think that it is an extremely personal touch and it makes the customers feel appreciated. I wish I could say that out server was as attentive as the managers. Our personal server seemed overwhelmed and did not seem pleasant at all. I was surprised by his demeanor because it contrasted with the managers by such a large degree. After the managers spent a long time at our table conversing with my husband and me, the server’s mood started to change a little. It was almost as if we weren’t important to him until the manager invested enough time in us to deem us important.

Cleanliness: The restaurant is very clean, including the outside area.

Price: The prices were decent at the restaurant.

Experience: As our dinner was about to end, we were able to see the fireworks show at Disney from our seats. One of the managers joked that my husband had arranged for the fireworks show to be unveiled just for me. I laughed sarcastically because that show was above your ordinary firework show; it was absolutely beautiful, in true Disney fashion.

Tips: Try a more authentic Italian dish and let me know what you think. I may have to go back and try a different meal.

Would I recommend it: No, I would not. There are so many great restaurants in Orlando that I am still baffled by how it made it on the top 10 list. Let me know if I’m missing something. I’m always open!
